Grayson High School Advisement Program Description
Advisement Program Coordinators - Karen Rockey
The purpose of the GHS advisement program is to assist students and teachers in developing relationships and connections to our school in order to improve student achievement.
Program Goals:
- Each student at GHS will have at least one adult advocate
- Increase student high school completion rate
- Connect with students beyond the classroom
- Increase promotion rate.
- Foster a successful school experience
- Build interpersonal and intrapersonal skills
- Promote personal and academic success
- Improve communication
- Increase participation in after school clubs and teams
Guided Study Meeting Schedule:
Mondays: Silent Sustained Reading
Tuesdays & Wednesday: Advisement
Thursday: Test Talks
Friday: Extended Announcements
Topics include but, are not limited to:
- How to be successful in HS
- Progress Report reviews
- Review standardized test performance results
- How to prepare for standardized tests
- Goal setting
- Getting involved
- College and careers
- SAT, ACT
- Financial aide
- Interpersonal skills
- How to get help when you need it
- GHS spirit and pride
